The Sparkle Behind Beautiful Bridal Straps and belts

There’s something rather special about a wedding dress with just the right amount of sparkle.

Not necessarily lots and lots of glitter, but those little flashes of light that catch your eye when the bride moves. That’s one of the reasons I love using Preciosa crystals in my bridal designs.

Preciosa crystals are made in the Czech Republic, in an area known for its long history of Bohemian glassmaking. Preciosa itself has a heritage that goes back centuries, combining traditional glassmaking with modern precision and technology.

And you really can see the quality when you work with them.

The sparkle is beautiful

One of my favourite things about Preciosa crystals is the way they catch the light.

A crystal can look quite understated when you're looking at it on its own, but put it onto a wedding dress and it comes alive. As the bride moves, the crystals pick up the light and give little flashes of sparkle without necessarily making the whole dress feel covered in glitter.

They work beautifully alongside lace, pearls, beads and other bridal embellishments, which makes them particularly lovely for creating bespoke details.

Delphine Straps

Perfect for bridal straps

This is where I particularly love using them.

A pair of beaded or crystal bridal straps can completely change the look of a wedding dress. Perhaps you have found the dress you love, but it is strapless and you'd feel more comfortable with a little something on your shoulders.

Or perhaps the dress is already beautiful but you want to add something that makes it feel a little more you.

Crystal straps can do exactly that.

They can be delicate and understated, with just a sprinkling of sparkle, or much more heavily embellished for a real statement.

And because I make my bridal straps by hand, I can choose the combination of crystals, beads and other embellishments to complement the particular dress rather than simply adding a standard strap.

It's all about the right amount of sparkle

I think bridal sparkle is one of those things where less can sometimes be more.

You don't need crystals covering every inch of your dress to make an impact. A little detail around the shoulders, neckline or back can be enough to catch the light beautifully.

Preciosa crystals also come in different shapes, sizes and finishes, so they can be used to create very different effects. Crystal, Crystal AB and other shades can give you anything from a classic clear sparkle to something with a little more colour and dimension.

And I love mixing crystals with pearls.

The softness of a pearl alongside the sparkle of crystal gives a really pretty bridal look — elegant rather than overly glitzy.

Theodora Belt

Making your wedding dress your own

Your wedding dress doesn't have to stay exactly as it came off the peg.

Sometimes it's the little details that make it feel completely yours.

Adding a pair of beaded straps, a little crystal embellishment or some pretty pearl detailing can transform a dress without changing the things you already love about it.

That's one of my favourite parts of what I do. I love taking something a bride already adores and adding those finishing touches that make her look in the mirror and think, “Yes. That's my dress.”

Beautiful sparkle, made especially for you

For me, Preciosa crystals are another way of adding that little bit of magic to a bridal outfit.

Whether you're looking for delicate sparkle, something more dramatic, or a combination of crystals and pearls, there are so many ways to use them.

And when they're carefully chosen and hand-beaded into a bridal strap, they become more than just crystals — they're part of something that will be worn on one of the most important days of your life.

If you're looking for beautiful beaded bridal straps, I make each one by hand and can create designs using Preciosa crystals, pearls and other bridal embellishments to complement your wedding dress.
